ISDIN Melatonik

May 06, 2019

Why am I obsessed with ISDIN Melatonik?  Well I've been using it for about 42 days and have seen a HUGE difference in my skin.  Putting that aside I can honestly say it's a revolutionary product because of its components and what they can do for your skin.

So Melatonik is made by a company called ISDIN out of Spain.  ISDIN has been around for a very long time in Europe, so please don't think they're rookies.  They are a household pharmacy name in Spain, much like Avène is in France.

Melatonik is a night serum.  It has three basic ingredients:

1.  Vitamin C - as you know ascorbic acid is a potent anti-oxidant and helps protect and strengthen skin from within.  There are a gazillion serums made with vitamin C so this isn't so special.  Next...

2.  Bakuchiol - an herb from China.  It's literally an organic plant-based form of "retinol."  Is it really a retinol?  Does it make your skin peel and turn red and flaky?  Nope.  Not one bit.  That's why I wrote "retinol" with quotes.  The best thing about this Chinese Herb is it ACTS JUST LIKE retinoids.  It helps turn over your skin at a cellular level, softening fine lines and wrinkles, and by doing so makes your skin look healthier than ever.  If you look at ISDIN's studies they are pretty solid.  On a cellular level, you are getting the benefits of retinol/ retinoids WITHOUT the side effects.  Could you ask for anything better?  Well hang on...

3.  Melatonin - so you're thinking "will this amazing face serum help me sleep too!?"  No, not quite.  Sorry :( . The melatonin is the same stuff that helps us sleep; it is found naturally in our bodies and obviously we can buy it and take it as well.  Melatonik has melatonin in it.  Scientists recently discovered that melatonin is a highly effective indirect antioxidant.  It helps protect our skin against pollution, oxidative stress, and free radicals.

SO to sum it up, Melatonik is great in how it feels and smells, but even better at what it does for your face.  It's an awesome product for anyone who enjoys being outdoors but wants to take care of their skin.  You can use it and still be in the sun.  I will always tell you to wear sunscreen to protect your skin, but this formula does not make you red and flaky like many retinoids do.

An additional benefit is that you CAN use it while pregnant and breastfeeding.  Retinoids are teratogenic and are contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.  Melatonik is not.  It is safe and allows you mamas out there to take care of your skin throughout pregnancy and after.

We can't keep this stuff in stock.  It's ridiculous.

Who are We?
Who are We?

Medical esthetics is a really cool field.  My philosophy has always been "less is more."  Each of us is not defective just because we are aging.  We are beautiful, wise, and vibrant as we age and gain knowledge and experience in life.  Our faces express each day of life and what it has had to offer.  Injections should be done in a totally natural manner so as to highlight the patient's existing beauty.
