Side effects can include redness, peeling, dryness, flaking, and so on. So what is bakuchiol? Backuchiol is a plant-based derivative that comes from the psoralea corylifolia plant - a plant that has had a long-standing role in Ayurvedic medicine. Bakuchiol has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and anti-aging benefits.
A recent study in the British Journal of Dermatology (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29947134/) showed that bakuchiol functions as well as retinol but without the side effects.

When it comes to retinol in general, it is always best to start at the lowest dose and work your way up. More is not better. It's also not totally necessary to use it every night. Using wrinkle patrol even twice a week, consistently, has been shown to provide significant benefit in collagen stimulation, cell turnover, and ultimately the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.
